The Living and our Ghosts

How can we be witnesses for the marginalized? How do the ancestors guide us to become witnesses? What can be learned in listening to those who exist within the margins of the past present and future.

The Living and our Ghosts is a 60 minute play that seeks to spiritually hold space for Black and Brown Trans bodies through the performance of decolonizing and de/constructing rituals of the African Diaspora. Colonial religious texts vilify Trans bodies and Blackness. Thus, creating a piece of theater that can only exist through spiritually affirming Trans bodies lays down a firmament of hope for an audience who identifies as a historically marginalized identity.

It has been performed at the English Theatre Berlin, Schwules Museum, St Thomas Freidhof: UDK Unit of Measurement Exhibition,  and Fete Du Slip 2021
