UNDERWORLD: Mycelium

UNDERWORLD: MYCELIUM is an eclectic subterranean eco-cabaret featuring fungi-inspired music, drag, puppetry, and performance by some of the most innovative artists in Brooklyn and Berlin.

TIRESIAS and ALEXANDER CAMELTOE  created an eclectic subterranean eco-cabaret and ritual celebration of fungal resilience, creativity, and proliferation, featuring fungi-inspired music, drag, puppetry, and performance by some of the most innovative mushrooms in Brooklyn and Berlin.

GodXXX Noirphiles created original music to score an oratorial narrative dealing with the eukaryotic ecosystem as a metaphor for colonialism and erasure.

The concept of GodXXX's performance stems from the Monotropa Uniflora or Ghost plant which grows in the dark, moist areas of the Americas and Asia. It situates itself next to mychorrizal fungi as a means to suck the nutrients the fungi receives from trees. As GodXXX's piece unfolds we understand how fungi throughout the world develop defence mechanisms via altering their own DNA or activating collective memory in order to sustain.
